Hi all,

Just got the $1100 service done at the local mechanics where he replaced ALL of the belts. Now, however, the car will not start smoothly. i.e. before, i would turn the key in the ignition and i would get my smooth engine powered in a few moments; nowadays, i turn the key and the starter goes for a few seconds, then either the engine will tick over as normal, or it will idle roughly between 1000rpm and 500rpm for a few seconds, before either dying or kicking into life.

A few esteemed mechanics at work have suggested a few things as the cause:

1. Timing belt is on too tight
2. Throttle body is carbonned up
3. Camshaft is missing a tooth

I haven't noticed any real differences while driving or while idling when the engine is warm/going, which i'll keep an ear out for now

Any diagnosis much appreciated

Cheers,

Mick
