Hi,

As bloody usual my car decides to kark it at xmas when it is nigh on impossible to get a mechanic. My power steering started playing up yesterday and discovered it is leaking. I put about 400 mls in yesterday arvo at work (Parkville) car was ok driving home until I got near home (ormond). This morning about 100 mls on ground under car. Topped up about 150mls and drove to work. Brought some stop leak and another 500 mls at lunchtime. Poured the whole bottle of stop leak 300mls at work before going home, plus about another 100 mls. Had to stop at a servo about 500mtrs from home to buy another bottle as car was becoming unsteerable. I have a mobile mechanic coming to work tomorrow (if I can get the car there). My questions are:

1. Is it ok. to keep on topping up the fluid and driving? Though it's getting to the stage I will have to stop multiple times on my way to work to refill.

2. The fluid is congregating in the vicinity under the power steering refill bottle. It could be either the bottle or a hose. I put my hand and felt the underside of the bottle and there was no oil is it safe to assume it is likely to be a hose?

3. Mad Magna when are you reopening after xmas as I think it's time it got looked at by an expert?

pop off that feeder hose to the pump look it over

if not split use screw up hose clamps on each end

till it stops leaking

if not get some insulation tape wrap it on the whole pipe

as it is gravity low pressure side of the system

find a wrecker with one

dont let the pump run dry that will stuff it big time
