I have a 92 TR executive sedan, auto, 2.6 EFI, dead stock in every way and it has got no guts. I'm thinking of buying a second engine and rebuilding it to get up and go, but that may work out to be the expensive option. Has anyone got any ideas on how to get better performance out of this engine or am i stuck with it ?

have a compression test done and see if it is a worn engine causing your problem, it could be something simple like retarded timing or something else out of tune

big $$$ have been spent on my 2.6 and its only got 140kw, most power can be found in head work, and the appropriate cam.

140 kw? thats a flywheel estimation im assuming unless you have turboed it and that is atw?
And what kinda things have you done to get those kinda figures anyway?
Mines a little sluggish at low rpms but most of the time its ok. Ive got some extractors on tho which helps the top end and soon plan for the rest of the exhaust system to upgrade. After that im not sure what im gonna do. looking for inspiration.

140kw at the fly is my estimate coz last dyno it got 132hp at the treads with retarded timing!
lets see haltech computer, 65mm throttle body, pod filter behind bumper drivers side, ported inlet manifold, some head work, cam change unsure of specs, extractors, 2 inch exhaust i think and an xforce muffler(damn loud)
lookin at bout 170-180kw when i am done! more head work to come! that will be around $9k spent on engine all up!
