Hi guys,
Just wondering how many Ralliart Magna cars were produced, if anyone knows?

To my knowledge, only 500 were produced.

It is rumoured that only 500 were made but this has not been confirmed. Obviously there were probably a few prototypes (including a yelllow awd version!) so it wouldn't exactly be 500. Our ralliart registry goes up to No.495 from memory....

Where is the AWD one now???
Should have made a supercharged AWD manual...

Meh fwd is cooler :P, An awd would just have been slow. So no fun :) The LSD in manuals does more then enough to make it easy to put the power down.

The prototype awd ralliart was crushed when tonsley park shutdown :( due to budget constraints a awd ralliart was never mass produced. If only they would have - awd ralliart in manual - what a beast that would've been!
I believe the showcar that Dave was talking about also suffered the same fate. That thing had a completely different rear end.

Umm I think you'll find fwd is severely frowned upon by most large car enthusiasts. I can't see how a fwd that has tremendous torque steer will be all that 'fast'. Yes, maybe when you finally get traction and havent ended up in a tree. Awd > fwd anyway unless its a proper fwd rocket like a Honda type-r, Renault rs250 etc.

It would be nice if we could stalk cars and find out where they are. It would make things so much easier haha.

According to google:
Crushed: To Press or squeeze (someone or something) with force or violence, typically causing serious damage or injury.

The showcar is TZABOYS. Once it had done its rounds as show car, it was stripped down and rebuilt as a normal ralliart. It still is unique with different rear hubs and a couple of other little bits. Its build plate also states it as a one-off factory build

Well the answer is obvious isn't it? Comparing a heavy (1700kg) & less powerful (160kw) Automatic AWD with a manual lighter (1500kg) Ralliart with more power (180kw) is hardly a fair comparison!! Reverse the scales and then see how great the fwd version would hold up. If they had the same power:weight ratio the awd would win purely because it can put the traction down when a fwd car cannot.

Pfffft i doesnt take much to get these things some traction. AWD really isnt all its cracked up to be IMO. My old magna was fantastic with decent rubber. With an LSD, power down in corners is heaps good. They are well balanced

Long time ago when I was trying to find the number of my Ralliart (sticker was missing from under the bonnet - I think it was probably in a front end accident) I went through a lot of trouble finding out what number I had from Mitsubishi and Ralliart. I ended up getting a phone call back from some dude at Ralliart in Adelaide at the time who told me my car was #6 of 495. So there you go.
Just on the AWD vs FWD debate going on, weight plays a big part. A smaller car with a good chassis/suspension setup can get away with FWD providing the power is not too insane. Heavier / more powerful cars tend to require AWD (think Bently, all big Audi's, Lamborghini's etc) Of course this is not a rule as others like the BMW M3 and M5 both use RWD (for now as there are rumours the next M5 will be AWD) But, read / watch any review on the new M5 and traction certainly is not one of it's redeeming features. I think power also plays a big part. I couldn't imagine my Evo being FWD with that amount of power - it simply would not be driveable.

I'm up to my 5th Ralliart now (also owned the TZABOY Ralliart and Disciple's Ralliart), build number 34.
To my knowledge only 500 were made although not that many exist today.
And yes, the TZABOY Ralliart was originally a TJ Sports Series 1 converted into the prototype, i bought it fresh from it's motor show duties.

Thats the thing, you dont need as much power in a FWD. megane rs265 much quicker than a 370z round the track and its much less powerful and similar weight
