need help with a 89 Magna TN auto ... The other day I was driving and I notice every time I stopped then go to accelerate it would sit for a sec or two then take off leaving a patch , later that day I started the car reversed out of the driveway then put it in drive but it was like it was stuck in park so I hit it back in reverse but that bloody went on me , I pushed it back to the driveway played with some wires and shit got it going but on the way home it was dropping down gears and over revving. Now I have the problem it wont move... Anyone got any ideas what the problem is?

if it was locked in park the car wont roll forward or back
it has a rachet design onto the gearboxs main shaft that locks solid at sprag
to fix the pan comes off and then the valve body is dropped

check the engine mounts and the cable is adjusted
properly at the gearbox

when the two holes line up thats neutral (rh picture with drill shank in hole )
if not that looks like your torque converter has failed

revving the motor and no movement back or forward ...
common problem with the TN auto..... MY TN auto did 3 in 6 months

if the tcu module had failed you would have reverse and third
but thats not happening to you so not electrical

if you have no reverse or drive its all internal oil pressures
and the box has to come out

what do you mean it left a patch ?
where is the oil level
to check ........on level ground and hot cycle the gears put in park '
and level should be between high and low
