Hey guys, just a quick question.

I own a '01 TJ magna, and I am going to install a Pioneer DEH-6350SD Head unit and before I open the dash and go searching, does the ground wire already have a place to sit?

If so, where? If not, where would be the most appropriate place to put it?

May be a silly question, but first time doing it :)

Cheers

if there isnt a spot for the ground wire already, there is a metal area along the sides of the dash where the headunit would sit. might have to look in and down a fraction to the left.

just attach it there, its where mine is and it has no issues.

not the best explanation but after taking the old unit out it should be clear where to look.

Yeah that's what I was thinking of putting it if there was no place for it, just had to double check it would work properly :)

Cheers bud

Yes, it should have a spot to ground.

If not select a location that touches the chassis of the car, remove the paint, screw a bolt in ensuring it sit snug and attach your ground there.

factory headunit ground through the brackets, and to a lesser extent, the antenna shield wire, where it grounds at the antenna itself. NOTE: should never be relied upon as the only ground connection, earth the headunit to the dash support brackets.
