View Full Version : 380 vrx head unit wiring
Does anyone know exactly whats going on in the diagrams? I think I've got this, just want to double check before I start a fire. Pin numbers and colours line up if you are looking along the wire into the back of the plug it seems.

edit: found wire colours

Yeah, all the info is there. Double check the order of the wires so you can determine what position is pin 1 and soo forth. Each speaker should share a colour with the positive and negative of the speaker being indicated by a black or white trace.
What exactly are you trying to do?
Putting a clarion double din dvd thingy in Ebonys car, making sure all the wires go to the right spot to make it work properly and most importantly not break anything else. Already moved the climate control stuff to the new facia with double din, it looks like everything from the 10 pin plug goes to the top screen and the steering wheel controls so I guess that will just stay unplugged.
The rest of the wires I think are in almost the right spot. Got an aeropro plug so I can put the standard unit back in if needed instead of cutting looms and soldering inside the dash.

Wires not on the new plug:
ground - goes to chassis, got it
blue - auto antenna - is this just left un used? The antenna is in the glass demister lines I think.
brown - phone interrupt - mutes unit on ground signal - left unused (have a wireless handsfree bluetooth thing on the sun visor)
grass green - parking brake - does this just connect to the switch side of the little button on the handbrake when I find it, or where is best to put it?
Also, the orange/white illumination wire goes back to pin 4: front ecu/tail lamp lights (green/white wire) - should I pull the pin out of the aeropro adapter and stick it in pin 12 - rheostat - black/yellow to get the head unit to dim with the dash lights? Or bad idea?
Pin 3 - Amp turn on - currently not running an amp, but this will line up with pin 3, blue/white wire, but I don't know where this goes. Should I leave it disconnected? Is it part of the factory bluetooth wiring if that was installed?
pin 9 - yellow/black wire in the car harness - I don't know where this goes.

I believe that Aeropro do the Clarion adaptors too - you end up with the following:
Clarion deck -> Clarion-Aeropro adaptor -> Aeropro-380 adaptor -> 380 plug on wiring loom
Hope that makes sense.
I have the plug from the clarion unit, just wondering now if:
1) orange/white illumination wire goes to pin 4: front ecu/tail lamps (green/white in dash harness)(how it seems to line up) or if I should move it to pin 12 - rheostat (black yellow) (I would think this makes it dim with the rest of the dash lights) or if I'm just asking for trouble moving pins about.
2) the blue/white amp turn on wire, if I connect it to the harness it does run back into pin 3 (blue/white) but I'm not running an amp, so not sure if I should connect it or not?
3) how the parking brake wire is supposed to attach to the handbrake switch, or to put it on a toggle switch and ground the other side?
auto antenna and phone interrupt I'll leave disconnected, and pin 9 (yellow/black in the car harness) lines up with a blank hole in the aerpro plug. Not sure what the wire is for.

1) Unless the Clarion supports dimming along with the rheostat, leave it on pin 4.
2) Don't connect the amp wire.
3) Attach the parking brake wire from the Clarion to earth - this will however bypass the "safety" features in the deck (video/DVD playback most likely) and allow them to play all the time. Not connecting the handbrake pin to any thing will most likely result in DVD playback never being allowed, at least that's how it was in my Orion deck.
BTW I am _not_ a stereo installer by trade, I just happened to install mine earlier this year and had similar questions.
Ok will leave it on pin 4, I couldn't see anything about dimming. Amp wire taped up and left off. Off to try and plug in my mess.

All in. Seems to work. Lost some clips on the way out, will see if the batterys gone flat overnight if I did something wrong, if not, will see if the park switch works for DVD's.
