So here is the problem. I sent my (new, stock) te Magna in for an inspection a couple of weeks ago and it came back all good. Anyway, I started hearing a noise in my front end so I took it back to another mechanic to get looked at. Turns out that my front right strut is completely gone and now he wants to charge me $550 to get it fixed up. Can I do this myself and save some money? I want to lower it eventually but don't have the cash right now, so a quick fix that will last me 6 months will do. Any help appreciated

Go to the wreckers should get 1 for about $50 and change it yourself.

I think I need special tools like clamps etc. I am not really a suspension expert and I don't want to stuff it up

Don't need clamps etc as spring stays compressed in strut - removal and instal is straightforward. You can save a bundle DIY.
