So i took a few parts off my front end to see how everythings going, and I noticed that the radiator fins are fairly dented and chipped. Not extremely, and only seems to be present behind the front grille. Is this cause for alarm, should I be looking to get a new one? Or are they fairly robust units?

Also, the two fans behind them, should they be replaced after a certain timeframe? Mine have turned yellow as the plastic has aged.

Cheers.

Keep the radiator if it's not leaking and there is no problem with the temp gauge. Keep the fans if they are working correctly.

There, I've just saved you oodles of cash!

You can straighten the fins with either a flat screwdriver or half of a spring wooden clothes peg by gently and carefully bending them back to their original shape - this will improve airflow through both the A/C condenser and the engine radiator. Straightening them also allows you to blow out all the dead insects etc caught in there. However as MadMax says, if the temp is OK then no problems.

I leave it all in there then. Might get in there and try to give it a clean though. Thanks :)

The time frame for those is when the bearing goes and they no longer spin.

You will find alot of plastic that comes from the factory white will yellow over age, you can try to clean them but honestly unless you entering it in a car show don't bother.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just keep your normal radiator service going changing coolant at the correct intervals. I wouldn't worry about those plastic fans either.
