I know the issue of insurance has been brought up many a time but i need to vent my frustration about SGIO. Reading about all your dealings with insurance companies i figured i would do the right thing and find out exactly what they will and will not insure ( being the good boy that i am :liar: well i do try) Anyways i was told by a lovely young lady over the phone that i could put any size rims i wanted as long as they were under 8' in width.

Sweet i thouht as i was looking at some nice 17x8s and saved up all my pennies so that i could get them next week. I've now come across some more money (thank you share dividens!) and was going to get it lowered as well.

Rang SGIO and was told 30mm is the max they will cover...not great but ah well... anyways while i was on the line the bloke asked if i was going to do any other mods. so i told him i was getting some rims soon and he said the i was only covered UP TO 7' WIDE?!?!?! What the!!!!! Luckly (while typing this) i found out the my rims also come out in 7' but thats not the point what happens if i didnt check again, brought the rims and was then told "sorry mate but your policy is now void"? not happy!
....but still relived about the rims.

I think its time to change insurance companies. Im currently with HBF and they are fantastic in regards to mods. You can pretty much do as you like providing its street legal and the DPI will pass you for it (pass the pits). In regards to wheels HBF will let you do anything as long as you stick to the two up two down rule and don't go wider than 1" from stock.

So if you get 17's which are 2" up from stock you must step down the profile by 2 grades to maintain the same rolling diameter.

I must admit while SGIO were a pain to deal with when their policy holder knocked me off and destroyed my motorcycle their payout was relatively speedy.
