Okay, so I own a 99 TH Magna.
The other day I turned my car on and it had trouble starting;
- I have to hold the key fully turned for about 10 seconds before the car starts.
- The fuel tank is empty when the gauge says 1/4 full
- The computer (not sure of actual name) which measures mileage, distance till empty etc resets every time I turn the car on
- The central locking only works when the key is on accessories
I went to an auto electrical bloke the other day who was going to charge me 75 bucks to just have a look over.
I was thinking it has something to do with the ECU because it is electrical, but I'd rather hear your opinions :)
Cheers in advance.
Note: It all happened at once

Aight. My 2 cents.
The car not starting could be:
Factory immobilisor could be failing and not allowing the car to start (happened to mine)
Barrel may be on its way out (with the factory security inbuilt)
Check battery terminals are clean and tight (which could answer the resetting)
Give those a check mate :-) battery is easy

What if I reset my ECU?
How does one go about that?

Could be a possible blown fuse in the engine bay
Have a look at the two in the yellow box
Would also get your battery tested

ok auto elec here
1 check ya earth connections. ie battery negative, then down the negative battery cable to where it bolts to the body and also where it bolts to the engine block..
check = disconnect. clean the points of connection with wire brush add some vasoline to connection points and rebolt down.
2 also check ya battery connections for any white fuzz around the battery terminals. if you have it before touching it get a large jug of boiling hot water mixed with by carb soda. pour contents over the battery terminals.
this neutralises the acid build up around the terminals and around the battery and ya then not working with acid dust crystals = not healthy for lungs
then disconnect battery get a battery post cleaner from parts shop and clean terminals and reconnect. get a can of battery post coating as well to lessen the chance of it happening again..
3. check main power connection bolts in the main fusebox. sometimes they come loose.

You could also test the earth pin on the OBD port with a multimeter to confirm there is a good earth on the ECU.

Is definitely the fuse in the yellow box.
The fuel gauge is prob just coincidence they are common to read badly.
