For a couple of weeks now, the indicators on my TP Magna have developed an intermittent fault which, presumably, will only get worse if it is not attended to. Every now and then, instead of flashing, the indicator lights will just stay on. Sometimes they start flashing again after 20 or 30 seconds, but sometimes they just stay on until the indicators cancel. It can also go for several days with the indicators operating normally.

It can happen on a left turn, a right turn, or when the hazard warning lights are on, so I don't think it's a bulb that's causing it and, as it also occurs with the hazard warning lights, I don't think it's the indicator switch itself. The only other thing I can think of is that the flasher unit is on the way out. Would this be the cause, or is there something else that I should check that I haven't thought of?

Sorry if I'm asking an obvious question, but electrics (be they car or home) are not exactly my strong point.

Be the flasher can that will be faulty, on a first gen I'm unsure of the location of the flasher can. But new flasher can be bought from any auto shop, they are easily replaceable as they plug in/ out devices.

I'm unsure of the location of the flasher can.
It is in the interior relay block under the dash to the right of the steering column. It is a square shaped box that just plugs into the relay block. Before buying another one, you might try just unplugging it and plugging back in a couple of times in case the problem is just corrosion on the spade lugs or socket.

Thanks for the responses. Just to give you an update: it was the relay that had died - since I replaced it everything has been working properly.
