hi
im just having a bit of trouble I have changed everything over from a written off ralliart into a new shell and I got it started first turn yesterday.
I gave it a service and finished everything off and went up the street to see if everything worked fine.
as I pulled into my driveway it started to cough and splatter and got progressively worst and now it wont start?
It turns over and just as it is about to start something tells it not to?
the check engine light comes on
and also the security green light on the dash flashes and beeps at me?
i have tried a new dizzy, not that. could it be the immobilizer? or something simple?
It just has me confused because it ran like a dream just before it died.
please any help would be greatly appreciated thank you

Check to make sure the timing belt on the motor didn't slip and kill the engine.
If it did, can I buy the LSD box off you? It's for a friend.

I'd be checking the electrical connectors for the ECU, BEM and engine bay are properly plugged in. Did you change the wiring harness over as well ?
As per TJ's timing belt comments is worth checking around the timing belt casing for broken glass which may have found it's way into & around the timing belt which will shred the belt and may damage the crank angle sensor if not cleaned out prior to starting the engine.
Blinking/beeping green security light means the connection between the SRS ECU and BEM is not working.

yeah I did change the whole harnes over.
I have just been looking around under the dash and I found a loose earth wire to do with the immobilizer so I did it up but same thing
when I turn it over it will start but only for a second and really rough, I think Ive narrowed it down to something to do with the immobilizer but I just cant figure out where to look next
any suggestions?
I just dont get why it ran yesterday but not today? something must have come loose or fried?
Where are you located? I have an openport cable.

Maate,
I'd be taking the top off the front timing case cover off & doing a visual inspection of the timing belt area to confirm that all is good with the belt & the wires running to the crank angle sensor. My sons TJ2 wagon had the timing belt slip due to freshwater flood material ie: dirt/mud/grass clipping etc collecting on the drive teeth & causing the belt to slip approx 5 teeth on both cams.
Cheers

Im in sydney on the northen beaches
I think I just found the problem
I pulled up the passenger side carpet and discovered it was wet... then realized the water made its way near the ecu under the dash center console...
so im guessing somewhere along the line the heater system has leaked when I went for a drive, then wet the computer, causing it now not to start?
next question is will it dry out and be okay? if not can I use the original computer form the parts magna?
cheers
What model was the donor car? ECU is likely stuffed. Either way you're going to need to reflash whatever ECU you put in.
First of all get it out, open it up, shake away excess water, then clean with contact cleaner.

Reflashing the stock ECU..
but maybe not needed due to ur GReddy computer
Take out any wet electronic boxes
spray with electrical contact cleaner
leave in a slightly warm (not hot) place for as long as possible, maybe point a little fan at it. Try to get any moisture that could have gotten inside to evaporate before its plugged in again.
Most electrical stuff seems to be able to take a bit of a wetting and then work again, as long as there is no power going through it while its wet.

Make sure you check your heater core as well..
If it needs replacing.. replace it!

thanks everyone got it running today :D
took the dash and computer out, dried the computer and cleaned it with contact cleaner, then replaced the seals on the heater core, tested it with the hose before re fitting there were no leaks so put it all back together and turned the key and away she went!
number #038 is officially alive again!
also took the old owner for a spin and he couldn't believe it was a different shell.
thanks again for everyones help

Reduces the effects of fuel sloshing around and starving the motor aka Fuel Surge.
