Hi all, I have read on some forums here that a dud ECU can cause transmission shifiting problems, I have done the resetting re-learn and makes no differance at all, is the ECU for the engine the same as the trans ECU? sorry but i don't know a lot about this stuff, if I replace the ECU what problems may I encounter? cheers
Correct - TCU is integrated, if you replace the ECU you will need to do one of the following:
1. Replace ECU only with a J-series and turn the immoblizer off (Suggest installing Mongoose MAP80S Alarm Afterwards)
2. Replace ECU, BEM, Locks, Keys (Record the VIN of the car you get the stuff off just incase you need to order replacements)
3. Replace ECU, BEM, Order new keys, and have them coded by Mits (allows you to retain your locks, won't be able to start car with old keys, but will be able to open it)

The ECU is also the trans ECU. But KH will have a BEM for the security and convenience features. You will need to replace the BEM, ECU all locks, all keys and ignition for it to work as they all come as a set.
Maybe before then see if Mitsubishi can test if the Trans portion of the ECU is throwing up error codes.

What kind of shifting problem are you having? How old is the trans fluid? Have you tried adjusting the TPS?
