Hey all I got an 03 AWD and there is this annoying ticking noise coming from behind the dash.
It mainly happens when it's hot in the car. If I change the temperature to something much higher it will stop, but I quite often have to change it to like 26-28 degree, which kinda defeats the purpose of air con lol.
I pulled out the glove box and had a look, it appears that there is a little "arm" that isn't moving properly.
I went to the local mitsu dealer and the spare parts guy was a wanker and didnt want to help me. I walked in and he wasn't doing anything, he acted like it was such a big deal to walk outside and take a look at the part. He then couldn't be bothered to look for what it was.
So my question is, anyone know I this problem, how to fix it or have a spare part??

The little "arm" that isn't moving properly behind the glove box, is the servo that controls where the air feed to the blower is coming from outside the car or is being recirculated from the cabin air. To test if this is working - I push the recirc button and see if it moves. In the case that it doesn't then you know its stuffed and can order a new one - alternatively you could also buy a second hand one.
Otherwise there are two other servo's that you can get access to without taking your dash out. In the drivers footwell on the left hand side there is servo that controls the flow of air between the different vents, and there's also one right above the cruse control/traction control modules, near the radio what controls the heat blend. One of those may not be working properly instead. You can get to the airflow servo by taking off the large panel under the steering wheel assembly, and then change the flow of air via the climate unit and see if it moves. Getting to the middle servo (the one that I think is broken) can be done by removing the radio facia, ashtray & ciggie light & centre console. Try make a clearing between the wires and you'll see it hanging onto the middle evap. box. Look for some 2-3" tin square boxes with wires connected into them, and a black plastic tube thing behind them.

I have the exact same problem with the climate control on my 03 magna. Seeing as I have tomorrow off work, I think I might be spending some time checking this out. The noise is bloody annoying - almost as annoying as my suspension - but thats another story.

Haha I have this problem in my Legnum! It's hell Nnoying but I really don't have the time to fix it atm
Disconnect the rod on the motor and see if you can move it manually. If so, that motor is stuffed. About $20 at a wreckers.

The motor you are having issue with is the one for the heater flap, is a bugger to get to especially the top screw.
This is a rather common thing, I have changed over 3 in the last 6 or so weeks and I have sold many of these when I have them listed in fleabay for both this one and also the airmix one on the side of the airbox.
