Hi guys,

First time poster, and tried to find information throughout the forums for this pet peev of mine.
So my AC Resistor died, got replaced; week later my blower fan decided to give out as well, purchased refurbed unit at $60 and yeh it works, but only when i kick-start it by manually spinning it... not ideal when installed properly behind the glovebox.

Am wondering (as a somewhat mechanical feeb) if the fan can be serviced in any basic way to "lube it up" so to speak...

I'm in darwin and spares up here are few and far between, not looking forward to another fortnight without aircon during buildup weather!

Cheers

On other blower units I've sprayed WD40 onto stiff bearings...this frees them up and gets them spinning again, however there is another possibility - the blower motor may have either worn brushes or dead segments on the commutator which means the motor is soon to be cactus. But try the WD40 first....you may need to attach a piece of tubing to the nozzle of the WD40 can to direct the spray onto the bearing(s).
