Hey guys,
I'm asking an unusual question because an unusual problem happened to me when I was driving this morning...my rear view mirror snapped off :s
No clue as to why, but it snapped on the pivot point that's on the bracket that's somehow stuck to the window.
Does anyone know how to remove this bracket? It looks like it can be pried at but I don't want to do that yet incase there's some other way

If there's no torx screw that you can see on it, then it releases via a clip on the top edge. It's a pain to remove though as the windshield itself gets in the way of squeezing the clip unless you have the right tool, the right tool being needle-nose pliers that are bent 90 degrees at the end, with one point bending over the other one. Hard to describe it without a picture.
I have heard of others actually cracking the windshield trying to get the mirror off though, but you might have more luck as most of the mirror isn't blocking your access since it broke off.
Here's a couple of photos of the clip itself, will give you an idea of what you're dealing with:

Hope this helps. I bought a chromatic mirror and couldn't get the original off, so I went to a Mitsi dealer and the service department removed the old one for me for free.

I had my mirror replaced under warranty as it developed a vibration noise. They told me it was a job requiring a bit of care so as to not damge the windsreen. On that basis and noting Minotaur's comments it might be best to try the service department of your local dealer rather than try to get it off yourself.

Interior mirrors are a pain to get off, as stated. If you just yank it, you destroy the windscreen. The screen is a triple layer, 2 layers of glass with tough plastic in between. You just end up ripping the inner layer of glass off. My TJ needed a new screen anyway, so I got rough with it, that's how I know. The metal pad was glued back onto the new screen, but I broke the clip off deliberately so the mirror can now come off easily by lifting it upwards. Why? Well, the silver backing is letting go and at some stage I'm putting a new one in. But that too will have the locking clip removed.

Heat up the mounting pad with a heat gun, and remove slowly once hot.
Saw this done at a windscreen repairer.

The tool is a pair of modified needle-nose pliers.
One point is bent at a 90 degree angle away from the other point, and then the second point is bent over the top of the first one. The excess on the "inside" point is removed so it's level with the "outside" point and then both are ground down narrower to allow them to fit in to the mirror.

Or you could lever the spring up with an allen key, I put a small piece of tin under the elbow of the key, to spread the weight against the glass. She'll slide right off.
