Hey fellas

i was looking at buying a scangauge, but i stumbled upon this one instead (http://www.ultra-gauge.com/ultragauge/index.htm). its half the price, has a nicer interface, but likeley at the cost of quality.

i have ordered mine and it should be here this week.

its an obd2 port scanner with real time digital gauges, code reader/clearer. i particularly wanted this one for egt sensor, boost, fuel (avg, and inst), coolant temp, intake temp and oil temp/pressure.

on my car it wil scan and display 61 sensors, on a magna/380 it would be closer to 30.

well worth the $70 plus postage.

i will let you know how good/crap it is when i get it.

cheers

It won't work as the magnas aren't ODBII compliant even though they have the OBDII shaped port - just in case anyone jumps the gun and gets one from ebay for their car. Should work just fine on your subie though.

But his Magna is now retired, I reckon it's for the new ride.

bellto - looks interesting, I'll be checking for updates from you.

How much is/was postage?

KJ.

yep, this ones not for a magna. its for my new car. hence the different numeber of sensors it will read.

total cost was 130, but thats with fedex international priority. you can use us postal service and save $30.

More of a heads up for other members who might get excited over the prospect of being able to read and clear DTCs.

alrighty, this thing turned up about 1 week ago.

so, all in all its pretty f'en great, my current page setup shows 6 gauges: boost, instant l/100, ave l/100, engine temp, intake temp and short trip liters used.

it uses the fuel level sensor (a bit different to a magna fuel sender) to display exactly how much fuel is in the tank, and it resets the trip when tank is filled up more than 10L, (this function can be adjusted and turned off)

there are sooo many more gauges that i havent/wouldnt use. but i have exactly what i wanted on this one page. you can change it from 1 - 8 gauges on the screen. the screen is light sensitive so it automatically adjust for ambient light conditions. and the best thing is that its plug and play, auto configures in like 30 seconds and your good to go.

it has adjustable alarms that you set to your own spec, or disable. i have one set for boost (alarms at over 11psi (quite often lol )) one for engine temp (goes off at 97 degrees) and one for speed (goes off at 110).

i checked the fault codes and 3 were showing. all were for the turbulence generators, but they were old codes stored in the cars ecu memory. i cleared them in 2 seconds with the gauge.

very much worth the price. recommended to anyone, although i am not quite sure if it would be advantageous for a 380 because anything thats important to the 380 is pretty much displayed in the cluster (ie no need for boost etc).
