After buying the Verada last year, I bought Valvoline Engine Armour for its first oil change.
Valvoline is, I think, a good brand. Engine Armour was on special at the time & I thought I'd buy a synthetic blend for the first time.
Now I want to go to a full synthetic, so I have been comparing specifications.
Most companys provide Viscosity at 40 & 100 degrees, HT/HS & other info on their web site.
Where a particular figure is missing, I've found that they'll provide it over the phone or by email.
Valvoline don't show any such information, so I rang the "technical hotline" and was astounded when the technical officer declined to give me any of the above info. The attitude seemed to be "just trust us - we make good oil". The only thing he did tell me (surprisingly) is that Engine Armour is 7 to 20% synthetic (depending on grade) while Durablend is 50%.
They are entitled to keep their specifications secret, but I will be buying a different brand of oil in future.
