We are thinking about going to look at a couple of manual V6 second gens for sale locally to use as a second car and hopefully take it to the drags for a bit of fun. I am pretty sure I know the answer to this question but will the abuse from the drags lead to an early death (i'm guessing yes)? Other than a few broken engine mounts our old manual TF used to love a good thrash at the drags and performed quite well. I know the second gen V6 wont be anywhere near as quick as a TF but has anyone raced one and has a time?

I reckon a 16 second pass at best. And yes you will kill it quickly at the drags. It will be leaking oil like a sieve in no time

Yeah after reading a few other threads I figured one wouldnt last long. Other than age is there any other reason why they are more fragile than a third gen?

I would put down to all the seals and gaskets be older and most likely in a fragile state....

so are we to assume that after a gasket and seal rebuild kit is installed it should be just fine? or is it like a structural thing where it eats them like candy?

Replace your gaskets, seals, install a HD clutch, and go for it.
