I don't know when the last oil change was done on the Verada, so I'm at odds at what oil I should use on it. Should I use a full synthetic or a blend? Or maybe just a conventional.
It's strange for me because I know the workings of my GT and he only gets Mobil 1 full synthetic with Mobil 1 filter. I know I won't be modifying the engine at all any time soon, and I'm unsure if I want to spoil this car as much as my GT since I do have a monthly car payment and the twin turbo as well in my accounts.

We have a brand of oil here called Penrite HPR10 which is a semi synthetic 10W-50.

My engine seems to really like this oil and a few people on here recommend it.

Penrite is an Australian oil & I doubt they export it to the US. And the HPR10 is now fully synthetic.

General view is fully synthetic is better than mineral or semi synthetic, including for older motors, so that's what you should go with.

Quality US oils include Amsol, Royal Purple & Redline.

I read on a specialist website on the internet that Royal Purple isnt that great and is just marketed cleverly

Royal purple is junk. I was highly considering Mobil 1 extended performance. Good for higher mileage engines and its good for 5000 miles. Not that Id run my engine that far, but its good mindset I'd think. I run redline in the GT in the summer but that costs an arm and a leg and it take a week to get a case.

Also in a similar boat with my 2003 diamante had it for about a month yet and the service sticker says ive got 1000k's to go though the oil is clean as a bell. Been reading alot of info & the temp in NZ is a bit different to AUS so was gonna go with Valvoline syn-power 5w30 have only heard good things about it and its compared to Mobil 1 alot but is also alot cheaper

Penrite SIN5 has done nothing but wonders for my engine. Just go with what Mal (MadMagna) says. He knows best!

They don't have this is the states.

you are pretty safe going with a Mobil 1. proven to be great oil.

What trumps them all (and you can buy in USA) is Elf. Either the Excellium or the Evolution

Looks like that's the rate we are headed too. I've never been a big valvoline oil fan, I put it in my acura rsx because I didn't give a damn about the car and it was on sale lol.
Working at a parts store has influenced a lot of choices and I've heard more bad than good with Valvoline.

Considering I've never heard of it I'm fully intrigued now.

Dave, you have botique tastes ... I like that :D I would love to give Elf fuels a go one day

Also, slightly offtopic. But for those in Brisbane there are 3 refineries near the bay that do tours, I went through the BP one as a QFRS member. Those lads can talk oils!

Any website or a certain location I can find more on Elf oils?

Elf is part owned by renault, and supply many F1 teams. My renaultsport runs exclusively on the stuff. They also supply BMW M and Mercedes AMG AFAIK

There is a stockist in one of the southern USA states

For info on Elf oils: go to "lubricants.elf.com" then select your country. I couldn't find any info on where to buy in Australia.

You cant buy it off-the-shelf, but head down to your local Renault spare parts counter and get it from them. Decent independents also stock it

According to a post on bobistheoilguy.com "BITOG's Favouite Oil 2010" the winner was Pennzoil (= Rotella = Shell).
That should be meaningful - the people who responded to the survey would mostly be more interested in & knowledgeable about engine oils than the average motorist.

In 2nd place was Mobil1, which would almost certainly make it the favourite synthetic.
