I'm just curious what happens if you reset your
computer from a 3.5L (S) mode to the 3.0L (S) mode?

Speaking of the trip meter I assume? It just thrOws out the readings as its expecting 240cc injectors.

would it affect the performance at all??

no, its just to calculate fuel usage. fuel consuption works on the duty cycle of the injectors from the computer. different injectors mean different fuel amounts. (EDIT: from the trip computers perspective)

So if in theory you had a blocked injector, your fuel usage could be misleading?

i think it would. who knows.........

Probably. I used some injector cleaner (the bottled stuff) and reset my computer. My reported fuel consumption on the computer dropped around 2-3l/100km for a few weeks. However, the actual fuel consumption (measured at the pump) remained the same.

No it would not, as when your injector is blocked its still going to be in the same duty cycle, only have trouble getting fuel in.

What would be noticable is higher fuel consumption levels due to the engine labouring more (introducing load) and injecting more fuel to compensate.

Don't go from 3.5 to 3L!!

It'd be like slapping God in the face with a bent Conrod!

Tend to agree with you, same as partial blocked multiple injectors, and if the the fuel filter is is so crudded up up the flow is affected.

If the other injectors had to make for the loss in power, that means your foot is depressed more. Same effect higher reading less actual fuel use.

But there is no benefit to setting the configuration to 3.0 for a 3.5....

The read out on the Magna only reports data from the ECU in a human understandable form. There is no reverse communication, unlike other cars where you can set suspension, engine etc characteristics from the dash. Setting it to 3.0 W when you have a 3.5 S simply makes the readout less accurate. It would be nice if there was a secret menu where you could set turbo boost etc on the fly, but alas . . . . it's only a Magna.:io:

You mean you don't know how to get into the Magna turbo boost menu? Oh dear....

Like others have said, it's a simple data option. select one option, and it multiplys A and B to give C. Select the other option, and it Does D times B to give C.

Yeah, I know. Sometimes I'm a bit thick. I will keep looking though. lol

Does it do much more than calculate the distance to empty based on sedan vs wagon fuel tank sizes or something?

Cheers guys, On another note, should I put my spare R33 BB turbo on my TL? Stepping
out of my starion and into the magna is great for comfort but oh so depressing for performance.

Do you have a spare $10k to throw at a TL magna? If so, go nuts!

I don't have $10k but I could pull the engine down for a forged bottom end for about $2500.
I got access to a TIG at work too, that's where I made this for my starion which cost me $140
for the muffler delivered from the US and $146 for the 3 inch mandrel piping delivered from Adelaide plus $60 for the stainless flexi joint.
