i'v just brought my 97 tf magna about a week ago and it didn't come with the remote for the central locking so i brought a new one today programmed it and all, but for some reason it will lock and unlock all door except for the drivers door. i cant lock and unlock the drivers door with the key as i think someone tried to break into it before i got it and has buggered the lock up.
the inside lock/unlocking switch locks and unlocked all the doors from the drivers side.
the drivers door wont even lock or unlock when you use the key in the passengers side door

any help would be great please

I had this exact same problem last week .

Fitted a remote alarm and all the doors lock except the drivers door .

You need to buy another actuator for the drivers door . I got mine from pickapart for $20 . Not hard to fit . Just fiddly .

I never noticed the drivers door wasn't working because I always opened and closed the door with the key,

i actually have the same problem with my drivers door, it will unlock the car when it feels like it but has not locked it since the day i brought the car, i was thinking someone tried to break in as well, they musnt be smart as it says on the windows "immobilization fitted" why bother breaking into a car that says it will not start

Normal wear and tear, probably nothing to do with someone stuffing around with it. The driver's door lock has a switch on the back of it, it actuates the lock/unlock mechanism. It's the main lock/unlock mechanism that gives trouble.

If you are a VERY patient person, you can remove the main mechanism in the door, and dismantle it. The main culprit seems to be a sliding switch where the contact arm looses tension. That's what the problem was on my TL anyway. Cleaned the grease off, gave the arm a bit of a bend, all good afterwards. As above, a fiddly job.

A door actuator from the wreckers may be in the same condition or close to it, so you are taking a chance.

While on this topic is there a good diagram for removing the actuator? I need to redo the passenger side in my car before it fails completely and when I was trying to get it off I failed big time. Any tips?
