View Full Version : Choppy/Jerky deceleration when backing off pedal (LPG)

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can tell me why my car, when I let go of the acclerator at high speed jerks pretty harshly. I might see if I can make a recording and see if I can show what happens. But basically if I let go of the pedal, especially at speeds above 80km's the car tends to jerk pretty harshly as it slows down. I can actually push/pull the acclerator a bit and you can almost feel vibrations through the pedal and the car flicks up and down a bit. It is as if something is stuck in the tb or the cable is getting stuck on something. The funny part is that this only happens on lpg. Petrol runs perfeclty fine though - which is odd. If it was a dirty throttle body then wouldn't the car do the same on petrol?

As a bit of background info - over the weekend I ran the engine for a little while without the lower air intake and air filter -just the tubing with maf sensor. Could some dirt have gotten into the intake or beyond?

Appreciate any and every help!

Thanks,
TK

Might be your MAF, possibly injectors or dirty fuel filter.

I've noticed if you do the resonator mod, you know where you replace the resonators after the MAF with whatever you may choose, the car feels a little more jerky. And while I was putting new spark plugs and spark plug wires (found that these wires been on here for the life of the car 220000 miles/350000 km), there was quite a bit of junk in the throttle body.
Like I was going about 55mph (89kph I think) and I let off the gas totally just to let it roll. And I found when I went to press it about 1 minute later it would stick and finally let go after a tap sound. Cleaned it and all is well now.
