Hi,
I was driving my TH the other night and had to use the wipers. I noticed that they were going extremely slow on all settings. This problem only just started I think it might be the wiper motor but I am not sure. I was wondering if anyone else had had this problem?
I priced a new wiper motor and couldn't believe it was $550. I rang a wreckers and can pick one up for $55 the only problem is you don't know how much life it has got lefft in it. I was wondering if anyone new if you can purchase reconditioned wiper motors anywhere?

A wiper motor rarely fails. I think if you for one from the wreclers that looked in pretty good nick you would be ok.

Wiper motor, linkages or switch gear?
Don't spend money if you are not sure what the problem is.
Try lubricating the linkages. Run the motor with the linkages attached and unattached, and see if it makes a big difference in the running speed. If the motor runs at all it's probably not the problem. If you can't get the full range of wiper speeds, it's most likely the stalk on the steering column.

I agree with mad. Don't replace it until you have checked everything else. I had the same thing happen to me. Not enough power getting to it. My headlights went at the same time though so its probably not the same issue. It could be a variety of things

Interestingly, The wiper motor in my KH and the one in the KJ were different and come from different suppliers.
The KJ one went into the KH and made the wipers operate much faster and quieter.

Thanks for the advice. I took the car to the auto electricians. They checked it out and belive the motor is the problem. I have taken a punt and ordered one from the wreckers. Hopefully this is the problem and that is the end of it.

Good on you. Don't buy a new one because it is more money than it's worth. Unless you can get an aftermarket one if that is more efficient/quieter?
