Hey guys,

Lately my sunroof on my Verada has been playing up. When the car has been parked in the sun and its hot the sunroof motor sticks. What I mean by that is, if I put it in "TILT" mode, it opens and closes fine, but the motor is still trying to tilt the glass when its already open. I have to then shut the car off and restart it to stop the motor from trying to open, the already open sunroof.

Any ideas or suggestions? Where is the sunroof motor located? Being a 12 year old car, I'd imagine this is an age related problem.

Cheers.

The motor is located right at the back near the rear screen under the hoodlining.

Thanks for that! So I should be able to unclip the C pillar covers & lights and then unclip the rear of the liner and get access to it?

I have the same problem with my sunroof. It occurs ocassionally. When I took the car to a sunroof specialist he suggested the problem is most likely the motor which in his words is "expensive" to replace. He quoted "about $300" to take the motor out and have it checked.

Thanks for letting me know that! I might just pull the roof lining down at the back and replace it with a new motor.

What? If the motor moves at all, its working. Look for the switch that tells the motor to stop when the roof is open, it needs adjusting.

Hmm, sounds like I'll be pulling my roof lining out to do this. The motor works perfectly, it just doesn't disengage when you press 'tilt' and its hot outside/been parked in the sun.

I've heard off quite a few members now, its located under the roof lining, near the sunroof motor. I shall be sure to check this one out, and give an update on it.

Coincidentally, my sunroof has also started doing this...

I just avoid tilting it... lol

You can still tilt it! Just tilt it before you start your car, then when its tilted start your car and the motor stops trying to open it! lol

Well if I want to tilt my sunroof and its hot outside/been parked in the sun I turn the keys to ACC, tilt it, then the motor doesn't disengage and is still running so I start the car, which then the power required to start the car must stop it....? Because then it stops trying to open when its already open...

Oh and I can still tilt the roof if the car is on, but if the motor doesn't disengage, I have to turn the car off (power remains to roof & windows for 30 seconds in a 3rd Gen) and then restart it... Bit annoying when it first happened and I was driving along!
