Hey all.

I've recently got a 2005 380. I wanted to the transfer my sound system over from my TE, which had great layout, and was easy to install. However, I'm having a few issues installing my subs.

Whats the best way to install subs into the 380's boot? It's got all the crumple padding, so it's not very neat. Is it possible to just install the subs into a "wall" and fix that into place? Or do I need a sealed box? Does box shape affect things much?

Thanks for the help.

Without seeing the boot I can't be too much help (I'm not familiar with 380's especially with "Crumple Padding")

First of all, depending on the sub just a prefab sealed box will do the job, if its a free air sub you can just make a wall and not have to seal it completely but unfortunately that is quite inefficient.

What about just a pre fab box behind the back seats?

I suppose I should have said that. The subs (two of) are Alpine 12" S-types with a matching monoblock. The original box is 80 x 40 x 30 with a sloping back. If you fit it into a 3rd gen, the sub box fits neatly into the space between the wheel ruts. Very neatly as a fact.

I'll take some boot shots tomorrow when there are some bright lights around. There is quite a bit of bracing hidden below the boot carpeting in a 380. A 380 boot is also pretty tiny compared to the 3rd gen massive cavern.

Ok. I took some photos of the boot. Here is how it looks.

That's the drivers side of the boot.

The middle of the boot.

The passenger side of the boot.

Any ideas?
