View Full Version : 380 quater mile
Hay all
What times have people run in stock 380s on a quater mile. Has anyone cracked in the 14s yet in a 380 with mods?
Cheers Kurt

fooz would be in the 14s, as would blackstar. 380ftw ran a 14.98 or something - think that was before he fitted extractors. ill confirm - thats a manual.
my 380 with 90mm intake full exhaust and extractors ran 15.2 auto.

nice result for stock 380 in comparison to more expensive mods one... the other day this Top Gear guys tried to improve a car... original was better than all the mods they did to the car... low profile rims, extractors etc... took the seats out to lower weight, rear spoiler for better aerodynamics... the original stock standard was fastest time... makes you think

that really surprises me that the 380 is mid - low 15's. i always thought they would be a bit faster, like high 14s.
i know my friend ran a 15.67 in townsville (extactors, superlows, stock wheels, and spare tyre removed), but at the same time, vy ss commos were running 14.9. the track is uphill and pretty piss poor.

Couple of things to remember is that the 380 is the exact same power figure across the range, so the ES is the fastest as it is the lightest, with the GT being the slowest again due to weight.
on the topic of weight, you guys coming from the 3rd gen background need to take into consideration that the 380 is a very heavy car. the gt being quoted as 1700kg in stock form. as opposed to a Tj exec at about 1500kg.
Also the 15.2 out of my modified 380 above was with my 20s (no option due to brakes), my stupidly big heavy brakes, and a 20" spare wheel.
who was driving an SS commo to only get a 14.9 haha!

its just the townsville track. ive seen a couple stock auto vy commos and au/ba xr8s run high 14's. i managed to beat a vt hsv (the 5.7L) 4 consecutive times in my magna, but it was pretty quick.

I've been to Willowbank about 5 or 6 times before. Not once have I ever seen a stock SS or XR6T get into the 13's. They're always mid/high 14's.
