Hi guys i have recently bought a te altera and im doing an overall sevice as im a adept home mechanic ;).
I am up to changing the auto trans fluid and cant seem to find the drain plug.
But i have also heard that there is a filter thing and some gaskets to replace too.
Any info would be appreciated.

Hmm, there should be a drain plug on the bottom of the trans underneath the car. As for the filters, you'll have to remove your air snorkel and its located under there lol

Oh, and make sure you leave the drain plug out when you take the filter off! It lets more fluid out...
a tranny flush would be a lot better then just a straight oil drop unless thats what your planning on doing as well. as stated the oil filter will be on top of the tranny passenger side, looks like a plain old oil filter. as you should know, the torque converter holds half the oil, and that dont come out unless you flush the tranny. do a quick search here, there is plenty of DIYs here if you dont already know how to do it. or perhaps take it to an auto trans place.

shouldnt take you more than an hour to flush the tranny and change the filter. if its your first time i would probably allow for double that time to figure everything out.

When I did my KH, just over four litres of fluid came out, then I removed the filter with the drain plug still out and another 1.5L-2L of fluid came out.
