Okay, continuing on from my previous thread, long story short, I'm looking at replacing my engine. Now, this wrecker, from what dad has told me, has a few Magna's in the yard, so I'm hoping to take this opportunity to obtain the necessary parts to tackle my goals for my TH Exec, which are a tippy conversion, and installing cruise.

I've got a fairly decent list of what I need for the cruise, so that should be fairly straight forward. However the tippy conversion might be a bit harder. It also comes with questions. First, can I use my existing TH Exec gearbox with tippy? Second, what parts will I of course need? Cheers for the help guys. I might have to get some AMC number plate surrounds.. I don't like the idea of stickers, and I don't like the idea of my plates against the paintwork either...

Yes you can use your existing box with the tippy conversion.

More info in this thread (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89325).

Edit: as you're looking at doing this to a TH it will be a bit more complicated; you might want to peruse mcs_xi's ride thread as he did this to his KH.

I'll have a squiz through his thread then, thanks. I'm also planning on putting a KH blackout cluster in my TH, along with the trip computer. From what I can gather, I'll need a wiring loom, trip computer and the cluster? If I wanted to do climate control while I'm there, what else would I need.

heres a quote from TURBO_VRX_MAGNA IN response to a climate control conversion(he has done one)

.Hi mate,
The climate control is easy just takes time, It took me a day and I half to complete mine and it is well worth it. You need to swap the main dash harness and top harness add the climate control actuators, sensors and climate control unit. Also once you have swap the main harnes you can add other things your car may not have like SRS, abs, power windows, cruise, ect

I have installed a kh blackout cluster which mal provided the appropriate harness for. So that would be one less thing that I need to get, I take it?

Would it not be easier to just buy a car with all this gear already in it?

Please do a search. I have written at least 3 times in different threads what parts is required to do a climate control conversion. There's heaps of info from other people on this forum as well.

The Tiptronic system is all computer based, so the gearboxes across the models are no different. I know from memory that the tiptronic system needs a TJS2 ecu (plus bem & keypack), engine harness, linkages, shifter knob & plate. I suspect a later model ecu also requires the appropriate matching dash and instrument cluster looms and of course, the matching BEM and keys to the ecu.

I believe that mcs_xi got around the bem & immobiliser issue but installing his own immobiliser and after market locking system. (i.e. Keyless entry and starting system)

Um, no? I fancy a bit of a project, sunshine. I like to be able to customise my car to my liking.

In my defense, I DID do a search. But when 99% of the results are people asking the same question, it's easier to skip past yours accidentally. A link wouldn't go astray either.

If you have access to a reflashing rig, it is possible to swap ECUs and transfer the immobiliser codes, thus avoiding the requirement for the BEM and keys. A further complication is that the tippy ECUs all (except for the AWDs) have TCL enabled, though this can be disabled via the reflashing rig.
