Hi all,

Recently my work colleague gave me his 'ten year old subs and amp' which were hidden away until he'd found them moving house

there are 2 10' Sansui SB-W10B D-Bass sub woofers, 100 watt peak power and 4ohm impedance; and
1 Avalanche AV800 800 watt amp

These were mounted in an mdf box measuring 30x30x65cm with the two subs being mounted in the 30x30 sections at each end with plenty of insulation packing in the middle

my question is, would these be considered of a decent quality? (they've barely been used)
cruising through JB Hi Fi, it seems i can get subs with a much higher watt peak for around the $100 mark (not sure about the rms)

Any insights appreciated, i can't find a thing online about these products

Cheers,

Mick

I had that exact same avalanche amp, no, it is not "decent quality" lol. It was the cheapest 4 channel amp out at the time I bought it.

In saying that, it worked great powering some cheapy pioneer interior speakers for 2 years until it blew up. Was also very susceptible to overheating.

Never heard of the subs.

Aw, shattering! lol.
At least it looks like the amp is perfect for powering the subs, which i suspect aren't too high a quality either. We'll see how long it lasts!

Last time I seen something from Sansui, was at Dick Smiths.... From what I remember they were one of those quality brands back in the 80s that slowly got cheaper and cheaper. Who knows, they might still sound ok?

Sansui do have some VERY cheap quality gear, however they do still have extremely high quality HOME audio gear.

TBH.. They're not the greatest when it comes to Car Audio anymore.
