Hey guys. I was reading over some old threads and came across one about fitting a pod. I fitted a pod that sits under a scoop and runs into the carby. Its a 88 TN. I didnt quite understand as there were a lot of 3 letter acronyms. There were little valves in the stock air intake system but i just ditched them. Was that a bad idea as i was told by a mechanic it wouldnt matter. Any help would be cool.

u fitted a POD under a scoop to directly flow into the carby? a POD or an open air circular filter?
cause if it is a carby TN then with a scoop u definately would've had more benefit from the open air filter. c pics below.
i have put on an open air filter onto my car over the XF weber carb that i have fitted. keeps the induction noise very well :D
as i'm sure u will know/figure out, the pic on the left is the pod and the pic on the right is the open air filter. if u have a scoop above the carby, u should have the open air filter.
in relation to the little valves and pipes etc leading into the stock airbox assembly, it dosen't matter if u ditch them. they don't do too much except for helping with emissions, which are overrated i might add.

The scoop cost $20 from a car show and the under bonnet stuff was free. The joys of having a girlfriend whos dad is a automotive engineer. Was a pain in the arse to fit and get the pod to sit right up into the scoop. The paint was some i had left over from fixing the door. If you are doing a mod like this remember to buy a pod that is water resistant. Water in the carby is not good. The scoop was attached with sikaflex which i am told is used to put body kits on. Strong stuff. So all up the project cost $50 not counting the pod itself and a few days in designing and fitting.

how bout having mates with MX6 turbo, honda prelude and subaru liberty. i copped it hardcore. now i beat the lib over the 1/4... beat the lude to 80 and am up around the mx6 at 60 where i was nowhere near any of them to 60 before... much to their disgust :bowrofl: :bowrofl:
now who gets the respect they deserve? 1st gen magna :D
i gave a supercharged 3.8L commy a run. i was 1 car length behind at 80 :D he had the jump though dammit. hate rwd... i think an lsd would help me considerably though. hmm, we'll c.
but yeah... don't let anyone change ur mind bout these magnas. these 1st gens can get up and go if u do the right mods
