Hey,

First up - recently got a 95 Verada Wagon. It's the best, I freakin love this car.

Drove from Melbourne to Perth just before christmas no dramas (well one minor thing) and am driving back in Feb.

Need some advice if possible 'cause I've barely got cash for petrol. :woot:

Things going on:

1. Unburnt petrol smell at rear
2. Running a bit hot (heat quite noticeable when bonnet is down) - though heat gauge is on half or a fraction over.
3. Auto trans changes gears a bit weirdly - will rev high, lurch slightly. Nothing huge but ain't perfect.
4. Cruise control was working no probs on the way over until I tried to use the cigarette lighter. The plug I put in there got jammed and accidentally ripped out the whole socket when trying to get it out. From then on the cruise control woudn't engage. The light on the lower part of the dash still comes on if I flick it on, but when trying to set it with the steering wheel controls it doesn't kick in. Wondering if the lighter wreckage might have caused a fuse blow that would effect the cruise?
5. And finally, and the most noticeable thing - when accelerating there's some lurching and skipping kinda thing happening. My cousin thought it could be a fuel line, fuel filter thing. I replaced the spark plugs which fixed a similar (but MUCH more pronounced) problem.

So basically - can I fix these myself (got no experience! but I did download the service manual though I can't really make sense of it) and/or can these kinda problems wait until I'm back over east or do I def need to get it serviced before I leave. (I had it serviced before I left Melbourne but didn't fix any of the probs)

Cheers to the people that posted the service manual in the service manual thread.

Thanks!
