My passenger seat has a little tear in it just above the airbag & feels like there's a wire of some sorts underneath that's poking which caused the tear especially when someone sits in the seat.

You guys had any luck claiming any defects with your leather?
The car is obviously still under warranty.

I plan on enquiring with Mitsu about it just wanted to get your opinion.

I would take as many photos of it now as you can, just to be safe!

I got my seat (Non leather) replaced under warranty. Normally it would be classed as wear and tear, but they made a 1 off exemption for me.

Its worth a try, see what your dealer says.

My driver seat leather was tearing when i picked it up from the 2nd hand dealer just above where the airbag is mitsu repaired it under warranty no probs. Give it a go.

Sounds like a known manufacturing defect to me. Who made the Magna/380 seats anyway?

I know Lear makes (or used to make) seats for the Commodore. Got some seconds in velour seat skins from them years ago that fitted the wife's (SWMBO) Sigma with a little modification. Looked good.

Futuris do all the interior for Commodore/Falcon/Camry/Aurion. I wouldn't be surprised if they did the seats for the Magna/380.

I gather that the tear is along the pre-weakened seam designed to rupture if the side airbag has to deploy?

From memory of visiting the factory, they do all the upholstery in-house (it litterally looks like a sweat shop full of older women behind sewing machines).

Thre is no weakened seam as it is not needed, the srs bag has a plastic flap that opens, my seats in my 380 had deployed air bags when I got them, simply replaced the bags and you can never tell

Some dealers will not allow any claim for tears, some will, hopefully this one will as the leather covers are over $600 each

Was yours around the airbag plastic cover. My seat material is coming away from the top and sides of the air bag cover on drivers seat.

Any ideas on how i will go with this under warranty ?.

Nah, mine is s little tear about 10mm in length no seams. I guess I can always try a different dealer if I get refused.
