Hi all. I am just wondering if it is possible/reasonable to put in a rear wiper system to my te. I hate having to get up every morning and throw a bucket of water over the back of my car so that I can see. I also want to put in a rear windscreen cleaner, or whatever you call the squirting thing. This might sound like a stupid idea, but I can't see anyone else who has done it, so maybe it would be a cool experiment.

You will need some parts from the JDM cars (who had it as an option so it is rare even there)
Best place to look is NZ wreckers.
You would need the rear glass (with a hole), the parcel shelf, and the wiper mechanism.
The factory arangement is operated off a switch located in the lower drivers dash panel, or where our mirror switch is. I believe the TF and under have the hole for the wiper as the parcel shelf pressing is the same as the JDM cars (with the holes for the factory sub etc)

Thanks Mike, so it is possible. I just want to do it as a project, so if it only going to cost me a couple of hundred bucks, then awesome. I will have a look in NZ and see if they can send me some stuff. Cheers

Bit of a major job though, I imagine not many wreckers would be willing to pull a rear screen off a car and ship it from NZ to Aus. It would make your car rather unique though.
Mind you, any Magna Station wagon has one, so maybe look for one next?

You could try using the set up from a GTO, as the wiper is hooked into the trunk piece itself and not the glass. It's all up to the way you wire it and how you angle your wiper and sprayer. I don't see why you can't just find a generic washer pump and bottle. Most washer pump replacements are universal and require rewiring anyway.

Awesome. So I think this is worthwhile to make my car a bit special. If I can do it easy and on the cheap I will post up with photos. I was originally thinking to take it off the wagon, but we will see. Why do they not come with them anyway? It seems so practical

If you look around you'll notice that practically NO sedan in Aus has a rear windscreen wiper. Maybe they figure that you have a boot overhang, so your rear window won't get dirty? But pretty-much every wagon, hatch, and 4WD has them.
Maybe you could do it arse-about and attach the wiper from your roof.

And you could get all the parts from a wagon inc wiper stalk so it looks factory.

I can have a look in my local (I'm in NZ) wreckers on the weekend if you like. NFI on the cost of shipping a screen though......

I have a mate in Auckland who can remove and send me a windscreen, if I need to. I think that is going to be the expensive part of it.

I want it to look as stock as possible. Its just a thought at this stage though. If it is going to cost me thousands to source parts and install, then I won't bother. I want to attach it to my main wipers on the original stalk, so that I don't have to do much stuffing around on the electrical side of things.
