Sorry... i mean JVC KW-XR610.

A question, can anyone tell me if the JVC double din head unit KW-XR610 would have any problems working in Australia?

The JVC Aus website only refers to x16 model... (ie the KW-XR616)... but all the US sites and Amazon etc are flooded with cheaper x10 models (like th KW-XR610)

I thought it might be the AM / FM frequency ranges (like Japanese radios)... but they seem to be same/suitable range for both AM and FM australian radio stations.

I've looked through the specs, cant find any diff.. but it is late.

I don't think you'd have any issues with this re the AM / FM ranges... it should be OK. I've looked at loads of US market units on Australian ebay that are stated as being compatible with our local frequencies. Very nice unit as well.

From looking at these two:
KW-XR610 (US version) http://mobile.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelId=MODL028630&pathId=148&page=3&lang=es
and
KW-XR616 (Aus version) www.jvc.co.nz%2Fassets%2Fpdf-brochure%2FKW-XR616.pdf&ei=5UYrT-hrjZmZBfbBtOkP&usg=AFQjCNF_CVVhVmEpuKYhFJyl5pJmvQ7kQQ&sig2=36Tp5RXUXHpXJkH8cg47Og

The US version comes fitted for HD Radio attachment and Sat radio ready. But neither of those should effect standard AM/FM radio useage. (I've figured the our digital radio her is DAB.. which is not HD Radio compatible).

The AUS version has an FM range of 87.5 Mhz to 108 Mhz... and the US one has 87.5 to 107.9 Mhz (that should make a difference as i PRESUME the channel separation is the same... ie .1 MHZ).
The AUS version has an AM range of 531 Khz to 1602 Khz... and the US one has 530 Khz to 1710 Khz (I'm not sure if thats compatible... as i havent found the channel serarations specs yet... and 530-1720 might indicate a ch separation of 10khz... whereas 530-1602 in Aus is what? .... 9khz???). So thats a question.

And the last difference I've found (that stumps me)... is that the DIN panel sizes is a bit different (AUS unit = 184mm x 112mm x 22mm) (US unit = 188mm x 116.8mm x 22.5mm)... and the actual unit size is a bit different (AUS unit = 178mm x 100mm x 159.5mm) (US unit = 182mm x 111mm x 159.5mm).

I would have thought all double DIN units would be the same size.. especially similiar models.

Ahhh... whirlpool comes to the rescue...
US AM channel spacings are different, so can not tune properly to AUS AM stations.

Which is a real pity, as AM/FM would be the main thing I use.
And the unit here costs ~$280... but the unit there costs about $130USD... minus mighty aus dollar, plus taxes and shipping. So about half the price.
