Hey all,
I posted earlier in the week regarding my recent purchase of a TS v6 auto with the only problem being idle dropping dramatically when the air con was sitched on. So following the direction of Madmax I tested the ISC with a multimeter and it was kaput so I got another one, tested it, looked good and fitted it along with a rubber seal that the previous one was missing. I did disconect the battery and reconect it, started her up, went to about 2000 rpm and slowly levelled out to 1500 rpm over ten minutes. After that I turned the air con on the revs went up to about 1700 ish rpm. So its controlling now but the revs are too high! do I just take it for a drive to let the computer equalise or is this a waste of time? OR should I adjust the idle speed with the screw on the throttle body ? reading the manual there seems to be an involved procedure bridging terminals in the diagnostic plug then bridging the spark advance cut out. this procedure seems easy enough though Im a bit confused what I need to do to bridge the advance cut out plug- I believe I put a lead to the pin in the plug to the earth/body? Bridging the terminals in the diagnostic plug would be easy enough as there only seems to be 4 pins but 12 slots (need to bridge pins 10-12). Well done if you have continued to read this far into the post! some input from people who have come accross this before would be great,
Thanks

ho hum. Someone obviously fiddled with the screw on the throttle body to compensate for the kaput ISC. Fiddle with it some more, but first get the engine up to working temperature. Perhaps drive the car for a while to see if it drops the idle to normal, as the ECU of the TS V6 is pretty dumb and slow to adjust to new components like an ISC.

Not familiar with bridging things. AFAIK the advance cut plug gets shorted to earth when you do the IGNITION timing only. Not sure if the diagnostic plug bridge is needed at all.

Hey,
all done running very nicely now! took it for about a half hour drive through the foot hills 70- 80 kph roads, actually isnt to bad through the corners either, which is nice. So a big thanks to Madmax, (and some others in another post I did on this problem) for giving me an idea of what to look for, next job seems to be a rocker cover gasket...
