Hey Guys,

I looked in the headlamp sticky, but it didn't have the globe names for foglights or side indicators:

Q: What bulbs does Mitsu use and where?

A:
Standard headlamp high beam - H4 55/60W
Standard headlamp low beam - H1 55W
Driving lights - H3 55W (They are actually Foglamps)
Parking lights - H5W (5W)
Parabolic headlamp high beam - H1 55W
Parabolic headlamp low beam - H7 55W
Verada driving lights - H3 55W
Parabolic parking lights - Errr... Good question - I'll have a look. 5W

Basically one fog light is out and I need to replace (TL Magna), which globe am I after for brightest legal and where should I buy from? And should I get two to replace the other one? and it's an easy job to do yeah?

Secondly, I've tinted my side indicators, and although it is easy to see them at night time, on a really bright day, they arnt the easiest to see (then again non-tinted is similar). Should I look at getting something like this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2pcs-BAX9S-H6W-64132-17-SMD-SMT-LED-HID-White-Bulbs-NO-Canbus-Error-/190633761181?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c62a8599d#ht_2130wt_1139?

Cheers,

Tim

You can safely assume that most stuff that comes up on eBay from Hong Kong is crap. You can definitely get some decent bulbs locally. If you seriously want brighter then you will need to consider upgrading your wiring and fitting. There are some good driving light kits that you can get from any auto store that are bright as hell and legal whenever you want to use them. If that isn't what you are after, then consider an led upgrade kit. Led lights are much brighter, much cooler and use less power.

As for the side indicators, you probably tinted them too much. If they are the orange ones, then you will get a darker tint than if they are clear. Once again, led lights are an idea if you want to keep your tints.

You can safely assume that most stuff that comes up on eBay from Hong Kong is crap.Bullshit. I've bought literally hundred of things from Hong Kong, 95% are still going strong after years of use. Where do you reckon the "local suppliers" get theirs from, before marking them up 1000% (literally).

Not bullshit. If you want a quality bulb you would be much better buying a brand name. Even repco bulbs are much better quality than these. EBay is swamped with cheap knockoffs and products that don't even meet Australian standards. You can't say that buying off eBay is the same or better quality than a brand name. I believe in using quality tools and quality consumables. I would never recommend a dodgy electrical part, especially something that's going to be concealed. Safety first.

back on topic, that ebay link was for led side indicators to replace current originals.

Id rather buy the fog light here (eg. supercheap or autobahn), it's just I don't what the globe is called, and id like as bright as legally possible with out having to upgrade wiring (just something I can swap over)

Led is the brightest you can get. Seeing it is an indicator there is no problem with legality. Just grab an led from supercheap or your local auto store. They are about $10 each max. I have heard bad things about hid headlights but I don't know about the other auto bulbs. I wouldn't use them myself but they are largely untested in comparison to other hid's.

Globes have a limited lifespan and when one is dead the other one will follow shortly afterwards. I would recommend replacing them in pairs.

TH/TJ magna:

Hi/Lo beam - H4 60/55w
High beam - H1 55w
Front park - T-10mm 5w
Front indicator - BA15s 21w
Side repeater - T-10mm 5w
Rear indicator - BA15s 21w
Stop/Tail - BAY15d 21/5w
Reverse - T-15mm 18w

TL/TW magna:

Hi/Lo beam - same as TH/TJ
High beam - H7 55w
Front park - same as TH/TJ
Front indicator - same as TH/TJ
Side repeater - same as TH/TJ
Rear indicator - T-20mm 21w
Stop/Tail - T-20mm 21/5w

T-10mm and T-20mm are wedge style globe. BA15s is bayonet style globe and BAY15d is bayonet style globe with offset pins.

TE/F/H/J fog light use H3 globe 55w. Don't know about TL/TW .

Maybe you would like to try this LED globe in your tinted side repeater http://www.amazon.com/White-Omni-Wedge-Bulb-2825/dp/B004Z3JWM0
