G'day all,

Just thought I'd share a bit of info that might come in handy for some of you in the future.
Like some of you, who've already mentioned that they've had starting problems with their magna's, I had that same problem. A few people said they had it corrected by a new crank angle sensor and that is definitely one possible problem for such symptoms... however for me it wasn't.

Had the car fixed today for $38.50! Apparently it was some error with the immobiliser and all they done was hook a computer up to it and read the error codes that the car apparently stores which indicated an immobiliser fault and they then cleared them all and there's been no problems at all since

Hope it stays that way, but yeh if you have that problem take it to mitsubishi - could just be something simple like that and be all fixed for $40 bucks!

If they just reset the computer ... isn't disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds the poor mans way of a reset??

Be interested in what they actually did? Good to hear your back on the road though !! :)

Nah i tried resetting the computer by leaving the battery disconnected, once it worked for half a day and mucked up, and when it got real bad I tried it again and it done squat!

Apparently (or so they told me) is read the code, deleted all error codes that were logged and I think something like re-load the correct immobiliser codes or something like that.

All i know for sure (that i can remember) is that he said that "we hooked just like a normal computer up to it and deleted all the error codes and reset everything"

When you reset your ECU by disconnecting the battery, fault codes automatically clear anyway, so I doubt this would fix the problem by itself. They must have done something else as well I am thinking

....only going off what old bud told me

I don't care as long as its fixed and it didn't cost me a sh*tload - now i'm grinnin'.

(The battery musn't remove absolutely everything coz it didn't work!)
