i put the car in the garage unloaded my gear left doors unlocked and about 2 hours latter the alarm started going off. turned it off then 10 mins or so latter it went off again. i just read the other posts about alarms playnig up, the door sensor light on the dash shows that the doors are shut which would make me think that the door sensors are working correctly, i read that the bonet and boot sensors can play up, but if the boot isnt shut the doors wont lock anyway.
so i suppose my main question is if the car isnt locked and a boot or bonet sensor play up would it set the alarm off? i wouldnt of thought so, but i may be wrong, if not any suggestions? thanks
Lock it, I don't know if it takes a minute for the alarm to arm or not, and then try lifting up and pressing down the bonnet or boot along the edges. If it doesn't set it off, move on to the doors. I've heard of the bonnet switch setting it off in the wind occasionally, see if you can raise the problem switch so it has a firmer contact with whatever shuts against it. Could also be a loose plug.

Ok thanks I will try that but my point still is if I haven't locked the car I should still be able to leave the bonnet and boot completely open and it shouldn't set it off .

mine used to do that, it turned out that one of the clickers on the inside of the remote was stuck down

Yeah the bonnet switch is very common, quick fix for the bonnet is to put a washer under it to space it up... otherwise perrys suggestion is good.
It should have nothing to do with any of the Switches, seeing that the car is unlocked....
Try pulling out the battery of your remotes, and waiting a while and see if it still goes off..

I think that might have happened with me as it hasn't gone off again. Thanks

I am having a similar issue! pain in the A! Sticky boot button may be the issue with me! Because isn't the grey boot button also the panic alarm button?? I took the keyless apart and it was damp with sticky goo and yes the boot button wasn't as clicky as the other two buttons!!! So time to buy new remote! The amount of nashing of teeth and swearing I have been through!

Two single presses of boot button = boot release, one long press = set off Alarm.
One long press of any of the buttons should set the alarm off. I know I have done that by accident lots of times, scaring the hell out of me while squatting to tie shoe laces up right in front of the car with the keys in the pocket.

my TW alarm started going off my itself yesterday. I took your suggestion and put a washer under the bonnet switch and it seems to have fixed it. Thanks for the great advice.
Noticed pressing down on the bonnet while washing was setting it off. Trying disconnecting the bonnet switch.
People sitting/leaning on your bonnet exerts unwanted pressure on the bonnet switch, which can break it or render it faulty. I think that is how mine became cracked.
Of course if you see anyone leaning or sitting on your car, you have an obligatory right to exterminate them. ;)

Jeeze! I was about to post a new thread to ask the same question about the alarm. This afternoon I parked the car in the driveway (leaving it unlocked), opened the boot with the key and took out a box of solar lights I bought at Bunnings. Then I put the box on the boot lid (as you do) whilst I fished about inside looking for the instructions. I fish the sheet of paper out and, blow me down..."beep, beep, beep!" the car alarm goes off. WTF!? The car was unlocked! So I put the key in the ignition and turn the motor over. The alarm goes off and, mercifully, stays off. It hasn't happened again (touch wood) but I'm wondering how it happened...whether I accidentally pushed an alarm button for a long period whilst the remote was in my pocket or the wind (which was quite blustery this afternoon) did something to the bonnet or boot.
BTW...What is the location of the boot and bonnet switches?
Stroppy, the boot lid and may be the bonnet also, operate independently of the doors. Wagon rear doors are linked with the other doors. Next time, just press the unlock button of the remote to turn the alarm off, you don't need to start the car. Also, you may have inadvertently turned on the panic alarm whilst the keys was in your pocket. The bonnet switch from memory is on the passenger side, on the front, near the headlights. The boot switch from memory is in the latching mechanism on the car (not the boot lid).
BTW, it is a no no to put cardboard boxes on any part of your car. Slight moves of the box will scratch the paint work.

Yep...now I can see it...that domed switch mounted with two screws in front of the washer reservoir. Thanks for that. I'll check it.

Thanks Vlad. The car was unlocked and I did hit the green unlock button on my remote before starting the car...perhaps I should have hit the red lock button instead.
I agree about not putting stuff on the bootlid but I'd just pulled the box out of the boot and gently placed it on the bootlid to open the top flap. Don't worry...I am almost anally-retentive when it comes to scratches and door dings! If I see a scratch out comes the Turtle Swirl Removing polish faster that you can say "stroppy!" I also have this tiny battery-operated motorised polisher for dealing with swirl marks + I bought myself a door-ding puller from Ebay, just in case!!
When I park in shopping centres I park far away from others and in a park where there is a lot of door space.
Yep...I'm nutty when it comes to scratches and dings!! Lol!
