I finally got hold of one of these for my car, they allow the snorkle to suck air from the front grill instead of either side of the bonnet via the slots. i have always cut the plastic away from the area directly below the snorkle, but this looks much cleaner. note the foam that seals it from drawing air at the edges. anyway thought it would be of interest to some who were considering this mod. good enough for mitsi, good enough for me!

Mitsubishi Japan also add foam to the top of the snorkle.

yeah, my car still has the rubber seal to seal there, i remove the rubber along the front edge of the bonnet directly infront of the snorkle. although, i have a pod in the factory airbox and i havent used a stock filter frame (element part cut out) as a seal yet. . . so i still get some hot air lol. also fed snorkle with pipe to front bumper (about 50mm) and a forward facing mouth to ram air into it. thing that has stopped me fully sealing it is that when sealed, the intake roar , especially at mivec change over, disapears, childish i know, but damn its sexy, and i noticed no loss in performance with it unsealed, maybe the extra flow of air has it running leaner.
