Hey guys just a query, I have a 96 TE, its got new lowered suspension (Boge Shocks + Springs, however Bumpstops and Dust covers are almost destroyed), however when im driving I can feel the car swaying, its hard to explain, its subtle but you can feel it, I imagine it could be stiffer.

Now im pretty sure its the back end since I checked the fronts and nothing stood out, which makes me think some bushing needs replacing. What bushing would generally cause this? and would a press be needed at all?

Thanks in advance.

Swaying through the cournes with under hard acceleration??

i used to have the same feeling. have you had a wheel alignment since you lowered it? it crucial that you do because after lowering it, all the geometries change, i think you will find that the toe is out causing the car to be unstable.

Spot on.. Alot of people will toe in the rear tyres a tad to correct tyre wear when aligning. the down side to that is when you hit a bump in the road the rear end of the car wobbles round. best think is to get the toe on the rear tyres set to zero.

Plus being lowered the rear suspension negative camber has been increased.

Running zero toe-in and just a tiny bit of negative camber will get rid of the rear steer characteristics and will also much improve tyre life.

Inspect your rear control arm bushes as well had a similar problem with my old TE

Ok thanks guys how do I go about fixing the toe? I didn't think it could be adjusted.

Toe is adjustable. Time for you to visit Mike (Murph03) i think!

Toe is adjustable, the toe control arm, I wonder why??, has an eccentric adjuster inboard on the subframe.

Camber adjustment requires a kit. If you get the camber measured it is easy to work out how much to push the upper arm inner brackets out. Easy with hardened steel washers and high tensile bolts. However when you do this the toe in HAS to be adjusted afterwards.

just go to your local tyre shop, they will be able to look after you. wheel alignments (including thrust allignment) will usually set you back $40 - $80 dollars depending on where you go.

Wish I had known that it could be done with an alignment since ive just had one haha ohwell i spose.
