Hey guys,
i have just bought my 2nd TE Magna and want to know the "Perfect" wheel size, Tyre, and suspension combo to get it sitting and looking "Perfect"
My last TE i had Pedders Sportryder Springs and shocks installed and i found it low enough but too level, i always would of liked the front slightly lower than the back..... i believe most of you guys use Kings lows in the back and Super lows in the front? is this the way to go?
Thoughts?
Cheers

Such a shame that looking and sitting perfect does little make the car handle or not bottom out....
SL fronts used to be the go, many are going for the Low Fronts, they're much more drivable...

Yup, Superlows look good but are too low/soft, and are prone to bottoming out. I wouldn't use them - I'd stick to Lows.
I think Lows all round, a good set of shocks and a set of 18x8" wheels are "perfect". It's exactly what I've got, so I'm not biased or anything lol In all seriousness, I think this combo is a good tradeoff between looks, handling, ride comfort, practicality, legality and cost...

Best bang for buck are the Boge with either the King or Dobinson springs, you will never get the car flat with even wheel arches due to the body design, you can have one or the other.
SL fronts will give you pretty much nil suspension travel, is bad for the car, the handling and the driving
Lows all around are usually the best way, if you want to even up the arches a bit use SP (30mm) in the rears

Perfect? Coilovers with 18x9.5 +35 wheels on front and +30 on back with 235/40r/18 rubber. Roll guards flat and it should be pretty much perfect fitment for being JDM YO
But if you don't wish to spend 4grand+ I don't reccomend this.
Either that or get whatever wheels you like that are wide and +30 offset or lower, put them on the car, then hammer the guards until the wheels fit. Then respray guards and you are the winner.

Lows all round are pretty much what i have in my other TE and i wasnt completely happy with the look of it, are King lows lower than Pedders lows?
Could someone give me some examples of what these combos look like? :D

If you don't have flares the car will still look quite high on king lows but comfort will be good. I think my car is to high and i have an extra 15mm of flare covering the guard....

Well here is how my other TE sits on pedders lows, how would kings compare to these?

Here is the difference in the 2 at the moment ( new magna to the left) the new one has pedders springs in it , i think they are the same as my old magna in the front but the back is higher? and because the wheels are bigger and the tyres are too big on the new one... the clearance off the ground is higher but the gap between the tyre and the guard is just how i like it?

King lows look about the same, possibly slightly lower on the front. It's hard to tell though I know my front sits almost same clearance to the rear of my car, think my springs were put in upside down though. The king lows i have are progessive.

whats Progressive mean? lol and when you say yours might be lower on the front does that mean still the same at the back as mine but lower at the front? or lower all round?

Check my Member's Machine thread in my signature if you want photos of Lows all round.
It's not slammed, but considering the ride and practicality, I'm happy.
Lows are still prone to bottoming out though, and if you want to go lower, you really need to go stiffer - either custom made springs or coilovers.

progressive springs are softer on initial compression, then firm up as the spring is compressed further. Gives a good ride with smaller bumps but then firms up with bigger bumps and hard cornering.
If you look at a progressive spring the coils are closer together at the top and further apart around 1/3 of the way down.

I have King Super Lows all round on my TF.
The height looks good. But the spring rate with standard shock combo is TERRIBLE. I do not reccomend it. The coils hit on each other in the front too no end! If you go any lower than lows you really need 3 or 4 times the spring rate of standard.
Coilovers would be the way to go. Hard spring rate and you get too choose your height.

Coilovers are so cool on long trips

Fitted Kings super lows on the front and Lows on the back with KYB excel G shocks all the way around (already had a whiteline strut brace).
Fitting, adjusting and wheel alignment carried out by my local bearepairs outlet who have some very good suspension guys there. Gotta say that I was suprised that the ride was still acceptable and the handling much much better with no pronounced understeer or oversteer. Sits well & steers better than stock. I have had the fronts bottom out once on me though during a spirited drive on a bumpy strectch of road last week but apart from that I'm happy thus far. Even speed bumps aren't an issue like I though they would be. So in all, it is livable.
And yes, I admit that I do like the look of a super low front /low rear stance. Definitley suits the gen 3 shape even if technically it isn't optimal.

Agree.
Kings Low and the Boge's allround.
Sure it doesn't look slammed, but handling is great.
A friend of mine commented that the ride with the above set-up feels similar to an Evo he's driven on coilovers, so it's pretty firm.
Even with these it is still low enough to bottom out on some driveways, so I imagine superlows would be too impractical for most.
Wheels: 18" x 8" with approx +38 offset all round is practical. (+35 on the fronts is getting borderline close to the guards with 8" wide wheels)
But, for the wagons at least, the rear wheels/tyres sit a bit further inside the guards than the fronts.
So for a more even look (in the wagon's at least)
front 18 x 8" with +38 offest
rear 18 x 8" with +30 offset
Means you won't be rotating them so not really practical to a degree, just depends how much the look matters

The lower you go the more you have to adjust your driving style. Steven bealey from nowra has a silver ralliart and it tucks tyre on the front and wheel on the rear. At a guess its about 30mm lower then superlows. He says he has no problems driving it as a daily with the ralliart kit, he just knows how to do it.
