Just wondering whether i need to replace the timing belt on a 2007 GT at the next service in order to maintain the manufacturers warranty. The car is due for its 90000k service but has only done 80000km. I was hoping to postpone it until it actually travels the mileage.

Does this apply with replacing the platinum plugs, or can this also wait till next service. Thanks.

Belts go hard and develop cracks over time, even if they are not used. If it lets go, the pistons hit the valves and bend them and the engine has to be taken apart or replaced. It _should_ last longer than 5years/90,000km, but it's a gamble and up to you if its worth the risk and warranty-voiding.

I replaced mine after 5yrs even though I had only done 70000k. As I plan on running the car into the ground its good insurance.

The belts are due at 100,000kms or 5 years so yes you will need to get it changed this year to maintain your warranty on the engine.
