What is a pulse generator A? What does it do? Why you wanting to replace it?
I know there is a pulse generator on the speedo it self, unsure if it pulse generator A.
The speedo itself has a reed switch, and every time the speedo needle move there is a magnet on the oil filled damper, which the needle is attach. So when the oil filled damper moves the magnet will open and close the reed switch. Causing pulse to occur. If your speedo working it should be working.
You can strip the cluster down the cluster, place your multimeter on ohms, then attach to the reed switch, and spin the oil filled damper. The meter should go from open circuit to close circuit.
