Hi all,
long story short I am looking to upgrade my wheels soon and I want the rears to fit the guards better than what they do currently. I can either get staggered offset wheels for the back or just get some spacers.

What are peoples experience with spacers?
Will they ruin the suspension setup at all? (wagons rears dont need to be alligned etc)
Will I need to modify my current rear hubs?
What is the better brand to look for?

I am new to suspension/spacers so any help is appreciated.

Most people here will press you too avoid spacers, but the amount of people that run them safely in Motorsport (namely drifting), I would personally be prepared to run them.

Certain Porsche 911's run spacers from the factory. Hub centric Bolt-Ons are the way too go. Hubcentric Slip-ons are alright if you need 5mm or less. Even at that level you may need to get longer wheelstuds.

You will get people saying 'they aren't safe', and you will get people saying 'I never had a problem with them'.

However the main reason I've now got staggered wheels for mine is spacers are illegal.
(I suppose you could also argue that changing front / rear tracks and fitting staggered wheels can be illegal too but spacers are that bit more obvious as well I figure.)

The obvious disadvantage with staggered wheels is when it comes to rotating tyres.

If you do go for spacers remember you pay for quality, so at least consult (or buy from) someone who at least knows what they are doing.
Big difference between ebay cheapies and properly designed hubcentric spacers!

Staggered wheels aren't overly hard to get, you just need to be patient and look around and hold out to get the sizes you want.

Yeah. Cheers for the advice guys. If they are illegal I will stay away from them... Thats just me. I guess ill be waiting around for a set of staggered wheels then! I am going to do some ringing around for good prices in tyre shops as I wouldnt mind a new set.

Definetly illegal to run in victoria or the road. If you do use them though be sure to get bolt on hubcentric ones. Alot of drifters use them as state above and are widely used overseas. If they are a good fit and all your suspesion components are in good nick aswell as wheels then should nOt have a problem.
