hi all

went to replace my cv shaft today (complete shaft including cup)

we got everything off and went to pull the cv shaft out. what do ya know? the boot comes clean off that green thing.

so we tried to remove the green thing. i assume all you have to do is pull? can someone correct me please?

we tried with a Tyre iron but no dice if someone confirms this is the way to do it i will go get a pry bar tomorrow

yes it is a tight fit
and a bar should be used
if no go you can leave
the other bit in there

regrease the cv joint

and fit a new boot clip

thats the problem magna buff

if you remember back when i started my multiple problems thread my cv joint goes clack clack clack around corners so putting it back on is a no go.

i got under there today with a prybar and swang on it. also didnt work.

mates coming over tomorrow to jack it up higher and swing on it with a bigger one.

Yo magnabuff

im doing the left hand side its taken 3 days so far so i think im doing something wrong.
we cant get the cup out from the transfer shaft. do i have to remove the bracket or the mounting bracket or something?
because it just wont come out (i mean with a sledgehammer wont come out) XD

best bet is to remove the intermediate shaft, then hold the intermediate shaft witht he joint hanging down, hit the joint with a hammer

They can be buggers to get them to start to come off as the circlip can often not retract properly, once you have it moving will come out easy

Some with a simple hit will pop off, others like one I had a few days ago can take several good poundings to get the buggers to come free.

With it in the car, you can not get in to give it a good straight hit, this is why the circlip is not releasing, by hanging it down you get a better angle to get the joint off

the block of wood didnt work. $$$k
allright take the whole transfer sarft out hopfully you have a large vice
lock the transfer sarft in the vice and hit the cup downwood keeping your feet out off the way .
wish you luck man never heard of one this hard to get off.
as above madmagna type,s quicker then me lol lol
