Hey guys...
I have just replaced the ignition barrel on my partners te Magna...I have only changed the ignition barrel..not the whole unit..the barrel came with a key
When I try and start the car,it won't fire...like an immobiliser is stopping it...
What can I do to make this thing run??
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Only way is to either get the old key, remove the antenna or get another one, hang and tape it to the steering column or similar and tape the old key to this, thus the immob looks at the old key not the new one or use a MUTTII to programme the new key into the immob which can be done on the TE/F without needing to replace anything else

So what you are saying is I need to tape the old key on the steering column and the immoboliser will read that key and not the new key?

Yup that is what Mal is telling you.
Obviously the car security is bypassed this way.
There is an wound pick up coil arouind the front of the ignition barrel.
It communicates with the key electronics and releases the immobiliser.

And you will need your second key tom open the doors.

The key taping thing didn't seem to work...still won't start..
How much would I be looking at to get it coded to the car with the MUTT11 program?

Did you remove the antenna and put the key in that. Did the car run with the old key before you changed the ignition. The old key needs to be in the antenna ring not just near it

I can not believe it works!!
I just put the old key on the same keyring as the new key...
Put the new key in the ignition,basically just scan the old key over the antenna and the car starts...
