hey guys! im new to the site... just want to get a few opinions on my cars (1993 magna tr) audio system...
im installing a system with 2x12" response subs, powered by a 2x150wrms amp, and a 50x4wrms amp powering 2 6x9s at the rear and 2 6' speakers at the front.. It'll cost me about $400.

Also, where do you reccommend i get cheap but good sub boxes... ? n wats r ur opinions on d direction of the subs in the boot?
thanx heaps!

You should have got some kevlar splits, or i think someone is selling jaycar kevlar splits on this forum...

Anyways, personally, I reckon home made boxes are better than 'cheap' sub boxes. I mean, you get all the fun of designing it, buying materials and making it!

Some ppl hate the sound output of ported sub boxes, but I have a sealed box, coz they're easier to make. Considering your subs are SUPER powered, I reckon a sealed box would be just fine. Oh well, we all have our own opinoins

BTW, welcome to AM! :)

6 FOOT SPEAKERS!!! HOLY CRAP!!! lol lol lol

Haha, just jokes mate. I know you meant 6" (inch) speakers. Sounds like a very good bang-for-buck system, but I think you'll find most of us are SQ "snobs", haha. Best of luck with it though, that's gonna be one loud Magna. What headunit are you using for this install?

You'll have to let us know how the two 12 inch response subs go running off the 2x150 rms response amp (Im assuming its the response one). Im also considering a similar setup. Two 10 inch subs running off a response 2x150 rms amp, should make some nice loud yet punchy doof doof. So yeah Im very interested to see how the setup goes, keep us posted.

Cheers.

hey welcome to tha forums

from my experience with dual subs, i recon go a single box, with extented port
if thats what its called

i have one of these boxes, with 2 x 12" kicker Comps, 400RMS each !!

sounds alot better with just the 1 port that runs along the back of the whole box

also have a play around with the positioning of the subs, different positioning will give a different sound....i face mine towards the back of the boot for extra deep thumpage

cheers

NO offence to anyone with jaycar 6.5" components but they deserve to be sold.

I've been told (havn't looked myself) that they some of the jaycar splits are rated at 50 watts RMS yet only 80 watts max. wtf??? Thats sh*ts just wack.
