Talk to MadMagna about prices, hes done a few of them so he could give you a rough estimate, depending on what you need etc etc :)

Price of the conversion will differ on
a) Condition of parts
b) Where parts come from - buy kit from Mal? Strip a car from a local wrecker?
c) What clutch will you be using? Will you risk it and reuse the one in the kit or buy a new one? As a guide - Standard 230mm exedy clutches vary from $450-650 from distributors or $750 from Mitsu. Exedy Heavy Duty clutches can easily reach $800+. XtremeHD clutches are $950+.
d) Will you do the work yourself or will you pay someone? Have a chat to Mal about his labour charges. Remember, that being in QLD you'll need to add-on transport costs. You might be able to find local mechanics willing to tackle the job or maybe someone in QMD whose willing to help and may have done a conversion before. Offer up a bit of cash and/or grog and you never know how you go. I know that TZABOY, AR5SS, Robceline, Kurt, Doddski have all had custom engine/drivetrain work done to their cars, much of which they did themselves.
As a guide, if you're not going to do any of the leg work yourself with acquiring the kit or installing it then $2000 is a good figure to work with. May end up costing a bit more if you want anything other than a standard clutch.
Good luck! Feel free to contact me for a bit of information. I will be doing a manual conversion myself (already got the parts) in a few weeks so I should be able to help.

Seen a few of my friends go through this and any money that Mal wants to do it is worth it as it is a royal pain in the butt and not worth the stress of saving a few hundred dollars.

It is much easer when the engine is left in and car is nice and high... Prices vary. My mate did his for around 600 recently including fluids. Mine was ~1400 with me supplying kit, mal doing the work, and a new exedy hd clutch.

Bullshit. Tell the whole story dean
Conversion labour was then 490 and you supplied an incomplete kit as well as converting from 3 to 3.5 amongst things
Kovac, please don't quote prices for me as you don't work for me, I am able to do that
Op, if you want some prices call by all means but if not doing on hoist motor out is much easier believe me I have done more than most on here combined lol. I have 3 kits in stock at the moment which is very rare lol

Ok guys thanks for the info. replying to madmagna's post. I am quite interested in doing the conversion as i have the money atm to go through with it.
Could you pm me the approx. cost and what is involved or do you have a phone number i can ring you on to have a bit of a chin wag over this topic. I currently have a cert 4 in motor mechanics which i did 2 years ago at school. So i can go down the route of having a go myself / getting a hand from some people here but off course ill be rewarding their work generously. Im just sick of the stupid 4 speed and i dont want to wait for it to blow up on me.
Cheers guys!

Ok guys i had a chat to Malcolm and ive sorted it out thanks again for the info! :D

You seem to take offense? I thought it was a great price considering more then half of it was the clutch on its own... Don't think you'll get much cheaper unless doing a DIY.

Haha I never thought that mal was short for Malcolm. I have hears the name Mal thrown around so much on this forum. Never met him but from everything I have read he knows magnas better than anyone else here. I am sure he will do a good job for you for a sweet price. Even if you do have to drive to Montrose to get it done. Good luck with the conversion!

I'm gonne drive from Sydney when I can get mine done. Easy enough 10 hour drive. Shack up in a hotel with the missus for a night or two and make a holiday of it. Might get a 6g75 engine as well while I'm at it. People will do it for quality service.
